05 / PUBLIC ADJUSTING
Put someone on your side of the claim.
For homeowners and property owners with an insurance claim. We document the damage, prepare the estimate, and present the claim for you.
Talk about your claimA public adjuster represents the policyholder in a property insurance claim, not the insurance company. Hiraya helps homeowners and property owners review the policy, document the damage, prepare a detailed estimate, and present the claim to the insurer. Public adjusting is licensed state by state, so tell us where the property is first and we’ll confirm whether we can take the claim.
HOW WE HELP
Your side of the claim, on paper.
- A review of your policy and the claim so far
- Photos and records organized by area of damage
- A detailed estimate of the repairs
- The claim presented to your insurer for you

WHAT TO PREPARE
Start with the claim details.
- Your insurance policy and declarations page
- Photos and video of the damage
- Letters, estimates, or payments from the insurer
- Repair quotes, receipts, and the date of loss
Record the damage before the repairs.
Take wide shots and close-ups before cleanup starts. Make the repairs needed to stop more damage, such as a tarp or water removal, and keep the receipts. Those records help show what happened and what it cost.
Read the policy beside the estimate.
The insurer’s estimate shows what it plans to pay. Your policy explains what it covers. Side by side, the two can show a missing room, a low quantity, or a repair left out. Start there before anyone argues about the total.
Know the agreement before you sign.
Public adjusting is a written contract between you and the adjuster. Read how the fee is calculated, what work is included, and how the agreement can end. A public adjuster presents and negotiates the claim. The policy and the insurer’s review still decide the outcome.
What is a public adjuster?
A public adjuster is a licensed professional who represents the policyholder in a property insurance claim. Your insurance company has its own adjuster. A public adjuster works for you: reviewing the policy, documenting the loss, and presenting the claim.
Can I hire a public adjuster after I filed my claim?
Often, yes. It depends on the claim, the policy, and the deadlines that apply. Tell us what has happened so far and where the property is. We’ll let you know whether we can help.
How much does public adjusting cost?
The fee is set in a written agreement before work begins. Ask how it is calculated, what it covers, and when it is paid. The rules on public adjuster fees vary by state.
Does a public adjuster guarantee a bigger settlement?
No. A public adjuster documents and presents the claim on your behalf. The policy, the evidence, and the insurer’s review determine the outcome.
